Meet Dr. Eugenia Krimmel

My name is Alexa Young

Experienced, innovative, and dedicated ESOL educator, coach, and writing expert, Dr. Krimmel designed the EL Writing Process for Newcomer ELs as a practical, classroom-tested methodology that integrates phonics, spelling, and academic writing into the traditional writing process used with native English speakers.

She has been an ESOL teacher, consultant, state policymaker, teacher trainer, college professor, and instructional coach.

My Story

My story started as a teenage exchange student to a village in western Turkey where no one spoke English, and I knew not a word of Turkish!

The experience was both life-changing and frustrating. I experienced the difficulties of trying to function in a new language while learning that new language.

I return to Turkey as an English teacher after college, and began teaching English as a Foreign Language to K12 and adult students from the Middle East to Europe to Canada before returning to the US.

Today, I am a national presenter, author, and instructional coach for in-person and virtual learning environments.
